Once You've Booked

Can we come back to have a look around?

Of course! Our open house and open evening events are a great opportunity for you to come back and have a look at Ashfield House. Bring the family, bring the bridesmaids and see Ashfield House set up for a wedding. Each open event looks very different in terms of colours, florals, venue dressing. We make many of them seasonal too which can give you a great idea of trends for the time of year you’re getting married.

Will the resident DJ get in touch with us?

After your booking appointment, you will receive an email from our partner wedding entertainment company, DFC Lancashire who are your resident DJs. They will confirm all your wedding details and be back in touch nearer the time with music requests and additional services like wedding hosting, wedding musicians and additional lighting requirements.

What is the payment structure?

9 months in advance: 30% of the estimated costs should be paid nine months in advance of your wedding day.

6 months in advance: 60% of the estimated costs should be paid six months in advance of your wedding day.

3 months in advance: 90% of the estimated costs should be paid three months in advance of your wedding day.

2 weeks before your wedding: The final 10% of your estimated wedding costs should be paid two weeks before your wedding day, settling your balance.

Don’t worry – if you need to add last minute guests, details or add-ons this can be arranged.

When do we drop everything off for the wedding?

We will arrange a handover meeting a few days before the wedding where you will bring everything you can for the wedding along with a handover sheet of instructions for us. IF there are fresh flowers or anything that’s not ready you can bring that on the morning of the wedding.

When do we set up for the wedding?

We will do all your setting up for you, at no extra cost. We do our setting up overnight so when you arrive first thing to get ready the wedding breakfast will be setup already with anything you’ve left for us to put out. We setup the ceremony at 11am once the previous days wedding guests have left.

What are the usual timings for the day?

Theres no such thing as ‘usual’ here… The timings are all dependant on the time and location of your ceremony. If you are having a ceremony at Ashfield House the registrars will give you an option of the times available, we find the best times are between 1pm and 2.30pm but we can honestly work with any time you choose. As you are the only guests we are looking after on that day we can tailor everything to you. a ceremony lasts between 20-30 minutes, couples usually want about 1-2 hours for photos and drinks reception, the wedding breakfast takes around 2 hours, the speeches are not easy to estimate but we tend to allow 30 minutes. We will then need to turn the wedding breakfast room around which takes about an hour. Sometimes its good to work backwards to decide first what time you want the evening to start and fit everything else in going back. On the day we will be in charge of all your timings and you wont have to think about anything!

Do we have to pack everything up at the end of the night?

We will take care of all your bits and bobs once you’ve gone to bed! We usually put everything neatly together in the Music Room for you to collect the next day after breakfast. We will box up what we can.

Can we change our numbers after booking?

When we take your booking we take minimum numbers, after then you can go up as much as you can fit into Ashfield House! We meet for a final details meeting about 4-6 weeks before the wedding where we go through every tiny detail of the day. We like to take your final numbers at this point but we can always accommodate changes that crop up.

Can we try the food?

Yes, included is a wedding taster for the wedding breakfast where you can choose two starters, two main courses and two desserts to try. We don’t offer a taster for canapés or buffets.

What facilities are available if the weather is poor?

Our house is the perfect haven when the weather is bad! The Grand hallway is the heart of our home and is a lovely space to mingle so you don’t feel cooped up. There are plenty of photo opportunities for you and your groups if you don’t fancy heading outside, the staircase in particular is always popular for group photos.

Do you have a list of recommended suppliers?

No we don’t have a recommended list, although we’ve made loads of amazing wedding friends we let couples choose the suppliers they want to. We invite our favourites to our Open Days and share our favourite photographers on our facebook page. The only supplier we book automatically for you is our DJ (provided by the award winning DFC Lancashire) for the evening reception – we’ve seen too many awful ones to let just anybody come to Ashfield House! If you’ve got your heart set on a different DJ please get in touch and we can discuss it with you.
